RCON ( Remote Control Over Networks)
ReCON (Remote Control Over Networks v2)
XCON (Xtended Control Over Networks)
RCON - Remote
Control Over Networks
The beginning: RCON.
After herding of Back Orifice (not BO2K) and its amazing
capabilities I decided to try making myself a trojan application
using Delphi 4. I called it RCON (Remote Control Over Networks). It
was a primitive application, but it was a start,
and I was very pleased with my creation. In that first version RCON
had only 20 commands and most of them were meant for
fun with the poor, unsuspecting user. RCON had many weak points:
a) it wasn't password protected so anyone could try to connect
to port 8989 of a certain computer and if RCON was
active then he would have access on it.
b) it was CTRL+ALT+DEL visible, so the local user could end its
c) the code was bugs full.
Remote Control Over Networks v2 aka RCON2
The more powerful: ReCON.
After a while I was starting to get bored of RCON. I also heard
of BO2K, I got it and I played with it for a while.
A change had to be done. So, I decided to make another version of RCON,
this time with help from my friend,
ZaJoker, who came along with lots of new ideas. We found out that RCON
already existed. Was a program for
login to Netware. So, a new name had to be found.
This program added new features to RCON: password protection,
CTRL+ALT+DEL, invisibility, a new set of commands,
error control and many bugs cleared.
There is a question: Why bother to make a trojan when
BO2K already existed and was a more than powerful tool for
remote control ? Because both RCON and ReCON are client independent.
They don''t need any special client with a
fancy interface, unlike BO2K. The client is none other than good old
Telnet, which you can find on any OS. This way
RCON and ReCON could be exploited with simple text commands from any
computer on a network .
XCON - Xtended
Control Over Networks aka ReCON2 aka RCON3
The godfather of remote control: XCON.
I enjoyed ReCON for a long time. Was the perfect remote
control tool. But after a while, firewalls and proxies came into
my mind. How could I defeat them ? This was the problem of all remote
control tools: they work fine on a LAN or Internet
if the PC you want to control is directly connected. But how about
those connected to Internet through a LAN ? There
was an one way direction: from them to the net. You couldn''t control
them because they were protected by a firewall.
So, I couldn''t accept that they had bullet proof protection.
Something had to be done and ZaJoker came with an idea.
Lets think: You can't connect to computers behind a firewall ! But
computers behind a firewall can connect to you ! So,
lets make them connect somewhere ! But where ? We need a 24 hours a
day, 7 days a week active server... The only
servers that allow clients to communicate and are active all the time
are the IRC servers !
This is the last version of Remote Control Over Networks.
Its greatest feature is the possibility of controlling computers
behind firewalls. No more protection for those users anymore ! In XCON
there aren''t new commands. ZaJoker thought
that getting through firewalls feature was enough to make another trojan.
And I think there''s no other trojan that can do this.
Apparently no one thought of this. If you know different please send

- still in alpha phase)
